Avidan Bensi Moont- Brit Milah & Naming

with Aviva & Milly
After months of calling Chaya’s belly ‘Thumper’ because of his activity we have decided to name our son Avidan Bensi Moont.
Avidan, meaning ‘My Father is Just’, was chosen for several reasons. Firstly, we wanted a name that reflected the name of Chayas' father – Avner. Chaya, did not know him but she wanted to dedicate a name to his memory. When we first knew the due date of our child, we looked at the sedra & found an ideal name – Avidan ben Gidoni – almost Gidons name and sharing the same first syllable as Avner. Being named on Fathers day, Avidan is also a tribute to Alex, Chaya's stepfather who recently passed away. Since he was born on Chaya’s sister Natalie’s birthday & because she liked the name Danny, Avidans nickname is now Danny. Other aliases include Danny-doodle, Squeaky the Kid & Squeak.
Danny’s second name, Bensi – is a shortened form of the name of Chaya’s grandfather – her mother Susan’s father. He was called Ben-Zion when he lived in Israel, went by Bandi in Czechoslovakia and Ben when he lived in the US. This also nicely links in with Avidan, as he was the prince of the tribe of Benjamin. Chaya believes if he is half like his great-grandfather he will not fall short. He was honest, upright and devout. His name will help us remember his life too.
